Samenvatting

In dit verslag heb ik een product uit elkaar gehaald en de ontwerpstappen gevolgd die je normaal als ontwerper zou doorlopen. Dit heet reversed engineering.

Ik zijn erachter gekomen dat de ontwerper goede keuzes heeft gemaakt met het materiaal en vorm van het product zodat het een robuuste bandschuurmachine is geworden.

Summary

In this report, I took apart a belt sander and I gone over the design steps that you normally would need to make this product. This is called reversed engineering.

I discovered that the designer has made good choices with the material and shape of the product so that is became a robust product.

Inleiding

Dit verslag is waarin ik een werktuig uit elkaar halen dat een bewegend onderdeel en elektriciteit nodig heeft, uit elkaar haal.

Introduction

In this report I took apart and analyzed a belt sander. It’s a product that contains at least one moving part and needs electricity to power itself.

We do this to learn the process that you will need during the development of a product. Some of these competences are: listing the needs, features, demands, wishes and different valid options for any function.

I also applied the manual report on report writing (Hoogland, Dik, & Brand, 2015, 7th edition)

Conclusie

De bandschuurmachine lijkt door de ontwerper(s) redelijk goed ontwerpt te zijn, hoewel het product aan de zware kant voelt geeft dat toch juist aan dat het een robuust apparaat is. Je hoeft niet delen van dit product te vervangen want ze gaan niet snel kapot.

Dit product is vooral op de markt gekomen omdat te zorgen dat je niet meer uren zit te schuren en daardoor verschillende gezondheidsklachten kan oplopen. Het product voldoet aan zijn hoofdeis: dat hij verschillende oppervlaktes snel kan schuren.

Conclusion

The belt sander seems to be designed well by the designer(s), although the product is on the heavy side. It is a robust device and that could be good for a product that you would use in a workplace. You also don't have to replace parts of this product because they last fairly long.

This product has been created so people wouldn’t have to sand a big surface by hand all day. If you would chose to sand it with you hand all day you would maybe even risk various health issues. The product meets their key demand: that it can quickly sand a big surface.
